Terms of Service.

1. Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“you,” “user”) and StrangerMeetup (“we,” “us,” “our”) regarding your access to and use of the website at https://strangermeetup.cam/ and all related services (collectively, the “Service”).

By accessing the Service, passing the age verification, checking the consent box, or using any feature of the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to any part of these Terms, you must stop using the Service immediately.

2. Who we are

StrangerMeetup operates the Service and acts as the service provider for the purposes of these Terms. For data protection purposes, please refer to our Privacy Policy which identifies the data controller and your rights under applicable data protection law.

3. Eligibility and age requirement

StrangerMeetup is strictly for users aged 18 years or older. By accessing the Service, you represent and warrant that:

• You are at least 18 years of age at the time of use;
• You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract under the laws of your country of residence;
• You are not barred from using the Service under any applicable law;
• You will use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

Before accessing the chat feature, you must pass our age gate by confirming your age and accepting these Terms. Misrepresenting your age is a violation of these Terms and may constitute fraud under applicable law.

If we discover or have reason to believe that a user is under 18, we will terminate their access immediately and permanently.

4. Your account (or lack thereof)

StrangerMeetup does not require account registration. You can use the Service anonymously without providing personal identification.

Because there is no account, we rely on technical identifiers (such as IP address and device fingerprint) to enforce bans, prevent abuse, and maintain service quality. See our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service only for personal, non-commercial communication between consenting adults. Specifically, you agree that you will:

• Treat other users with basic respect and dignity;
• Skip matches rather than harass or pressure other users;
• Report conduct that violates these Terms using the in-chat report tools;
• Comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction while using the Service.

6. Prohibited conduct

The following is strictly prohibited on the Service. Violations may result in immediate permanent ban and, where applicable, referral to law enforcement:

6.1 Conduct involving minors

Any content, conversation, or behaviour involving minors (persons under 18) is absolutely prohibited, including but not limited to:

• Accessing the Service if you are under 18;
• Any sexual, suggestive, or exploitative content involving minors;
• Attempting to contact, groom, or solicit anyone who appears to be a minor;
• Sharing content that depicts minors in an inappropriate context.

We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Any such material is reported to the relevant authorities including the Dutch Politie, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and the International Association of Internet Hotlines (INHOPE).

6.2 Non-consensual and abusive conduct

• Non-consensual nudity or sexual content;
• Harassment, threats, stalking, or intimidation;
• Hate speech, discrimination, or incitement of violence against individuals or groups on the basis of race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic;
• Recording or screen-capturing another user without their explicit consent;
• Impersonating any person or entity in a way that misleads other users.

6.3 Illegal activity

• Any activity that violates laws in your jurisdiction, the user’s jurisdiction, or the Netherlands;
• Distribution of illegal substances, weapons, or stolen goods;
• Human trafficking, sex trafficking, or any form of coercion;
• Fraud, phishing, identity theft, or financial scams;
• Distribution of malware, viruses, or other harmful code.

6.4 Technical abuse

• Using bots, automated scripts, scrapers, or similar tools;
• Attempting to bypass the age gate, ban enforcement, or other security measures;
• Reverse-engineering, decompiling, or otherwise attempting to extract the Service’s source code;
• Overloading the Service or interfering with its operation (denial-of-service attacks, spam, or similar);
• Using the Service to distribute unsolicited advertising, promotional content, or spam.

6.5 Commercial misuse

• Using the Service for commercial solicitation without our written permission;
• Selling, reselling, or re-hosting access to the Service;
• Collecting personal data of other users for any purpose.

7. Content on the Service

The Service facilitates real-time communication between users. Except for the website itself (which is our intellectual property), we do not create, host, or store the content users share during chats. Each user is solely responsible for their own conduct and communications.

We do not review most user communications in advance. However, we reserve the right to investigate reports, suspend accounts, and preserve evidence where we reasonably believe these Terms or applicable law have been violated.

8. Moderation and enforcement

We operate a combination of automated and human moderation to enforce these Terms. This includes:

• Automated content filters that flag potentially inappropriate behaviour;
• Human moderators who review user reports;
• Pattern-detection systems that identify repeat abuse.

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, to:

• Warn a user about conduct that may violate these Terms;
• Temporarily or permanently ban a user from the Service;
• Block specific IP addresses, devices, or geographic regions;
• Disable any feature or account that violates these Terms;
• Cooperate with law enforcement investigations, including providing information we hold;
• Take any other action we consider necessary to protect the Service and its users.

Decisions about moderation are final. Because no account is required, there is no formal appeals process, but users who believe they were banned in error can contact us through our contact page.

9. Reporting abuse

If you witness behaviour that violates these Terms, please use the in-chat report tools during or immediately after the session. For urgent or serious concerns, including potential harm to minors or imminent threats, contact us via our contact page and select “Safety concern” as the topic.

10. Third-party links and affiliate disclosure

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that we do not own or control. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party site.

Some links on the Service are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you click through and complete an action on the third-party site. This does not change what you pay or how we treat your data, and we only include partners we consider appropriate for our audience.

This disclosure is provided in compliance with the guidelines of the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) and applicable EU consumer protection law.

11. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, graphics, logos, text, and brand assets, is owned by StrangerMeetup or its licensors and is protected by Netherlands and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes as permitted by these Terms. You may not:

• Copy, modify, distribute, or publish any part of the Service;
• Use our trademarks or brand elements without written permission;
• Create derivative works based on the Service.

If you believe content on the Service infringes your intellectual property rights, contact us through our contact page with details of the alleged infringement, and we will respond in accordance with applicable Netherlands and EU law.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by Netherlands and EU law:

• The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind;
• We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or meet your specific requirements;
• We do not endorse, verify, or guarantee the identity, age, intentions, or character of any other user on the Service;
• Random matching means you may be paired with users whose behaviour, views, or content you find objectionable; your remedy is to skip and, where appropriate, report;
• Information obtained through the Service does not constitute professional advice of any kind.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be lawfully limited or excluded under Netherlands or EU consumer law, including liability for death, personal injury caused by gross negligence, fraud, or intentional misconduct.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, and except as explicitly stated in Section 12:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service;
• We are not liable for the conduct of other users on the Service;
• We are not liable for any loss of data, profits, business, or goodwill;
• We are not liable for third-party content, websites, or services accessed through the Service;
• Our total aggregate liability to any user, in any 12-month period, shall not exceed one hundred euros (€100), which is the deemed fair consideration for a free Service.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StrangerMeetup, its operators, and their respective officers, contractors, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, or damage (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your breach of these Terms;
• Your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party;
• Content you share or conduct you engage in while using the Service.

We reserve the right to assume the exclusive defence of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification, in which case you will cooperate with us in asserting any available defences.

15. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, including any suspected violation of these Terms. Because the Service does not require an account, termination typically takes the form of banning the user’s IP address and device fingerprint.

You may terminate your use of the Service at any time by closing the site and discontinuing access.

Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) shall survive.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

• Update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page;
• Provide a prominent notice on the Service for at least 30 days;
• Where required by law, obtain your fresh consent before the change takes effect for you.

Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

Subject to Section 18 below, you agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Service shall be brought exclusively in the competent courts of the Netherlands, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you retain the protection of the mandatory provisions of consumer law in your country of residence, and you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of that country.

18. Dispute resolution

Before initiating any legal proceeding, we strongly encourage you to contact us first through our contact page. Most disputes can be resolved quickly and informally through direct dialogue.

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the parties agree to attempt mediation before commencing court proceedings. Mediation will be conducted in accordance with the rules of a recognised Dutch mediation body, such as the ADR Instituut or MfN.

19. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid by a competent court, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if no modification is possible, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and our Community Guidelines (where applicable), constitute the entire agreement between you and StrangerMeetup regarding your use of the Service, and supersede all prior agreements, whether written or oral, on the same subject matter.

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
